Three Legged Animals

Three or Four Legged Animals

2 in front or 2 in the back?
A triad is a three-legged animal, and one never knows whether it has 2 hind legs (Primary Notes, and called a Real Triad) or 2 fore legs (Secondary Notes, and called a Deceptive Triad). The Real Triad can jump much farther.

Analysis
It is evidently of the utmost importance to know what kind of triad we are dealing with, which implies knowing the tetrad of which it is a part. Only the information of the complete animal will enable (a) the proper doubling and (b) the proper voice-leading. The context will evidently be the source guiding us to the proper complete tetrad.
